VPS Holi Function
Grand Holi Mahotsava Celebration at the Sri Radha Bhakthi Temple in Holbrook MA by Rajiv Ramaratnam On Saturday, March 10th, 2012, the Sri Radha Bhakthi Temple(Braj Mandir) located in the South Shore town of Holbrook will host a celebration of Holi, the festival of lights. The event will feature music, dance, a deity procession and a finale of the traditional Holi play of colors. Holi celebrates two major events in Vedic History. Legend tells the tale of Prahalad, a devotee of Lord Vishnu, who was saved by the grace of the lord from the clutches of a fire. In an effort to kill his own son, the evil demon Hiranyakshipu asked his sister Holika to seat herself in a fire with Prahalad in her lap. Holika who was considered immune to the fire was burnt by the flames while Prahalad escaped unscathed, thanks to the grace of the Lord. Another event that Holi commemorates is the traditional Holi ‘colors’ plau of Lord Sri Krishna and his cohort, Sri Radha. The following is the schedule of activities planned for the event: • Maha Abhishek • Cultural Performance • Indian Traditional Dance by Paramita Khatua • Udisi Dance by Mauli Pal -Asthapadi depicting the spring in Vrindavan followed by a Bhajan. • Kirtan, Arati, Prasadam, Deity Procession and Holi -Play with Colors Join us for a day of celebration.
