Featuring Senegalese master drummer Lamine Touré World-jazz ensemble Natraj features acclaimed special guest Senegalese master drummer Lamine Touré for high-energy Afro-infused multicultural music. This wide-ranging collaboration includes originals based on Senegalese rhythms, jazzed up arrangements of traditional Senegalese songs and Indian classical pieces, along with Ghanaian-based and Indo-jazz originals. Featured guest, Sabar master drummer Lamine Touré, was featured at the Montreal Jazz Festival, and has toured extensively in Senegal, Europe, and North America. He is acclaimed for artistry in fusing traditional Senegalese rhythms with jazz, rock, and Afro-pop. He leads the Afro-pop band Group Saloum and is Artist in Residence at MIT.
