HEALTHCARE FORUM: WHAT DOES HEALTHCARE REFORM MEAN TO ME, MY FAMILY, AND MY BUSINESS?
To help the community better understand the complexities involved in the new health care system NetSAW – The Network for South Asian Women is organizing a Health Care Reform Forum focusing on critical issues for individuals, families and businesses related to the federal health care reform plan and how it will impact us in MA. This seminar will present an overview of the essential knowledge needed to understand healthcare reform, how it will impact us and provide information on how we can move forward in making informed healthcare choices. The Topics reviewed will include: 1. Basic overview of key parts of the health care reform plan 2. Impact on employers, benefit plans and quality care for personnel 3. What is the individual mandate and how will it affect me and my family? Taxpayers, taxes and penalties; what coverage is an employer required to provide under the new law? 4. Will my extended family visiting from overseas be covered under the health care reform plan? 5. Impact on individuals, the health care industry, and business owners. 6. What, if anything, is the healthcare industry doing to reduce patient costs? 7. Impact of Electronic Medical Records Our distinguished panelists: Dr. Lynda Young, President Massachusetts Medical Society; Neeharika Mehta, Senior Health Care Analyst Partners Healthcare Manisha Sharma, Professional Services Manager, Silverlink Communications Moderator: Dr. Jyoti Ramakrishna, Pediatric Gastroenterologist, Mass. General Hospital A question and answer period will follow the presentation allowing attendees to ask specific questions related to their concerns and how to plan for the impact of this important new legislation.
