The talk will be focused on four great Nayanmars (Shiva Devotees; The blessed&enlightened ones); Thirunavukku Arasar, Thirugyanasambandhar, Manickya Vasagar & Sundarar and their contributions to Shaivism. These four great “Samaya Kuravargal†(People who spread the religious faith) were able to firmly re-root Shaivism (Devotion to Lord Sadhashiva) in the Chera, Chozha & Pandiya Kingdoms in Southern part of India, by their sheer devotion to Lord Shiva, who showered His blessings on them. The lecture is about the lives and immeasurable work of these great “Sivan Adiyargal†(Servants of Lord Sadhashiva); and also to enumerate the Divine Guidance that can be perceived in them.
Prof. R. Subrahmonia Ayyar (Retd) is a great scholar. He was the Dean of Academic Programs at the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, India (IIT Bombay). He has also served as a visiting faculty at MIT and Tufts University. In addition to having an illustrious career as a professor and researcher in the field of Civil Engineering, he is an erudite scholar who has extensively studied Hindu Scriptures and Tamil Literature. He has given several discourses on the subject.
