SILENCING & CRIMINALIZING DISSENT - KAVITA SRIVASTAVA - MIT 3- 333
Kavita Srivastava, National Secretary of People's Union for Civil Liberties, India, will be talking about challenges faced by the human rights movement in India. For almost three decades Kavita Srivastava has been part of non-violent resistance undertaken by people to assert their democratic and constitutional rights and attain justice. She works with Women, Dalit, Tribals, Workers and the Civil liberties movements bringing accountability for the crimes committed against them through legal and public action.The first fifteen years of her work life were spent working only women's issues and gave leadership to the Violence against Women's Movement in Rajasthan
