VPS 2013 Krishna Janmastami Press Release
On Wednesday, August 28th 2013 VPS and its sister organization, Sri Radha Bhakthi will commemorate Krishna Janmastami, the celebration of the birth of Lord Krishna. The event will be held at the Braj Mandir, 711 S. Franklin Street, Holbrook, MA 02343. It will commence at 5:30 PM and continue till 1 AM on Thursday. We are expecting a turnout of 1000 or more. As with all VPS events, a free vegetarian dinner will be served to all attendees The celebration will include a Flower Bangla, a unique form of floral decoration, where an altar for deities and even the clothes of the Sri Sri Radha-Krishna deities will be created with only flowers. Jasmine and Carnation flowers will be imported from India for this to bring in the enchanting ambiance of Vrindavana, the birthplace of Lord Krishna. This will be the first time that the Flower Bangla will be created in New England. In addition, the following additional programs will also be part of the event. Maha Abishek : A religious bathing ceremony for the deities. Aarti: A traditional form of prayer and offering. Three aarthi services will be held at 6:30 PM, 10 PM and midnight. The midnight Aarti will particularly be most auspicious. Bhajans: A melodious chant and music group performance lead by a few performers, but involving the entire audience. The Bhajans will be held throughout the evening and will bring about a spiritual, transcendental and loving atmosphere for all those in attendance. Prasadam: A free vegetarian dinner will be served to all attendees from 6PM to 1 AM. This is a open-to-all, family friendly event.
