South Asian Women’s Network Meet In Boston
The first of its kind South Asian Women’s Network Conference in the New England area was convened at The Conference Center at Bentley University in Waltham, MA on June 9th with initiative from the United India Association of New England (UIANE) and supported by several organizations in the New England Area.

Sankara Cancer Foundation Fund Raising Event
This father’s day event, held on June 16th at the historic Park Theatre in Cranston, RI, was the first annual fund raiser for Sankara Cancer Foundation in Rhode Island. It was attended well by local supporters, and adorned by stellar performances by highly regarded and talented New England artists Pravin Sitaram, Mouli Pal and Prafulla Velury and their students.

Kultar's Mime - A Powerful Expose
The adaptation of Kultar’s Mime for the stage, brings to life the stories of many young children, who were brutalized in the 1984 pogrom. Their twenty-nine year long quest for justice has largely been futile as the largest democracy in the world refuses to acknowledge the role that elected officials played in orchestrating the massacre.

Team Aajit Wins 3rd Place At TyE Global Finals
TiE Boston's Aajit Power took home Third Place as well as the top prize for the separate 1-Minute Elevator Pitch Competition, held at the TyE Global Awards Banquet on June 16th at George Mason University.

Ganga-Dashahara & Gayatri Jayanti Celebrated In Massachusetts
This Ganga-Dashahara, Woburn Satsang Center reverberated with the Ganga's divinity and cleansing gift to mankind. To celebrate this occasion, devotees invoked, Adi-Shakti Gayatri in three forms of “Ved-Mata,” “Dev-Mata” and “Vishwa-Mata” followed by invocation of “Hansa” and “Ganga".

BMM's Phenomenal Convention In Providence
Brihan Maharashtra Mandal of North America held its 16th biennial convention from 5-7 July, 2013 at Rhode Island Convention Center, Providence, RI. With two years in the making, 200 volunteers, 20 sponsors, and most importantly 3200 attendees - it was definitely a phenomenal convention!

On June 16th, the Shishu Bharati community gathered together at Lexington High School to celebrate the graduation of its class of 2013, the twenty fifth batch of students to ever formally graduate.

Ek Haseen Shaam - Hasne Hasane Ke Naam
The annual comedy night presented by Hindi Manch has become a much-anticipated event in New England. The event showcases humorous skits, poems and stand-up comedy presented in the Hindi language. This year’s event was held on July 27th at the Thoreau School Auditorium in Concord, MA.

Spiritually initiated on June 1, 2013, Shirdi Sai Temple in Chelmsford, MA successfully conducted the six weeks long Annual Sai Palkhi procession with an immense pomp and concluded the event on auspicious Guru Purnima.

IAGB Cruise - A Delightful Event
Over two hundred people spent a wonderful Sunday afternoon cruising the Boston Harbor while enjoying a wonderful meal and having a great time. The India Association of Greater Boston served as the host for the cruise, which set sail on July 21st.

American Vivekananda Academy Students Graduate
The students of the American Vivekananda Academy run by Pandit Ramsamooj in Hudson, NH, received their high school diplomas in a ceremony held at UMass-Dartmouth. The children, mostly Bhutanese refugees who had only Grade 1 level for reading and speaking English two years ago, stunned the audience with their speeches that could rival any American high school valedictorian speech.

India Society Of Worcester Marks 50th Anniversary
The India Society Of Worcester marked its annual celebration of the Indian Independence Day with a gala celebration in Worcester. According to the organizers between 1500 and 2000 people enjoyed the cultural festival at the Mount Carmel Church Auditorium.

India's Daughters
A lively, cross-continental discussion was held on June 1st, by newly formed India's Daughters, an NGO based in Cambridge and founded by Geeta Aiyer. The event, held at MIT, discussed sexual violence against women in India with experienced activists and social workers from the United States and India as speakers.

Essence of India, now in its second year, has become a much anticipated event. Helped by a broad bevy of volunteers and a gorgeous weather, the crowd swelled to 1,400 on this sunny afternoon on August 17th at NARA Park in Acton.

The story of Guru Dutt’s life, his illustrious career and personal life woven with melodious songs and unforgettable scenes from his iconic films was presented on Sep. 7th as a fund-raiser for Snehalaya.

IAGB Celebrates India Day 2013
Moving IAGB's India Day from the iconic Hatch Shell location to the Collins Center in Andover, MA caused much concern and drew sympathetic support for IAGB from the Indian and Non-Indian community. Despite the move the show was a great success.

Saheli, Support and Friendship for South Asian Families, held its annual fundraiser at the Westin Waltham on Friday, September 20, 2013. The event was a joint collaboration between Saheli and IMANE. Meghna Chakrabarti of WBUR volunteered her time as Master of Ceremonies.

Shri Dwarkamai Sports Team organized their Second Indoor Tennis Tournament at the Woburn Racquet Club on September 7, 2013. The Tennis Tournament is being conducted every year to benefit Boston Children’s Hospital.

This is the second year in a row that Shreya has performed in the Greater New England area. More than two thousand people of all different age groups attended the event. There was a mix of young kids, families, college students, and adults. Shreya did a great job catering to such a diverse demographic.
