George Ruckert / Hindustani Vocal Concert
George Ruckert in Concert with Nitin Mitta, tabla. George Ruckert has been playing sarod for more than thirty years, many of these under the direct tutelage of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. In India, critics have hailed his sound as having 'the master’s touch,' and praised his fully mature exposition of raga. He teaches classical instrumental and vocal music, and is on the music faculty of MIT. He is the author of several books on the classical music of North India.
A master in the making, is how one critic described Nitin Mitta. This genial and fiery young tabla player from Hyderabad and now New York is making a name for himself as one of the best young players from India. A student of Arvind Mulgaonkar from Bombay, he inherits the Farukhabad style as passed on through the great Amir Hussain Khan.
