Rajaji National Park | Rajaji Tiger Reserve History of Rajaji National Park Rajaji National Park is situated at the lower regions of the Himalayas and spreads over 820.20 sq. km. on the two sides of the stream Ganges in three regions of Uttarakhand: Haridwar, Dehradun, and Pauri Garhwal. The development of Rajaji Wildlife Sanctuary out of the woodland of Dehradun East Forest Division occurred in the year 1948. The name has been presented to the National Park to pay tribute to 'Chakravarti Rajagopalachari,' a political dissident called 'Rajaji' and was the last Governor-General of India. According to the story, during the pre-autonomy days, Rajaji was visiting the woods region and was proposed to take shots at one of its shooting blocks.
