Festival of Colors | Hastings Park - Lexington | May 18 - 1 pm - 5 pm
You have endured another cold gray winter with snow, ice, salt, and sand. It is spring time! It is time to change the scene. What better way than to add colors to the scenery! To reflect the heart’s desire to see colorful things! To match Nature’s urge to paint the trees green! To welcome and celebrate spring! In India, Holi announces the arrival of spring and the passing of winter. The festival breathes an atmosphere of social merriment. People bury their hatchets with a warm embrace and throw their worries to the wind. Every nook and corner presents a colorful sight. Young and old alike are covered with colors (red, green, yellow, blue, black and silver). People in small groups are seen singing, dancing and throwing colors on each other. The color, noise and entertainment that accompanies the celebration of Holi bears witness to a feeling of oneness and sense of brotherhood. The festival brings home the lesson of spiritual and social harmony!! You will be excited to know that we (Festival of Colors team) are bringing this wonderful tradition from India to Lexington. With this event, we want to celebrate the many colors in our lives and the oneness of it all. In this 4-hour program, This will be a 4-hour program where - • You will enjoy Irish, Chinese, Mladost Folk, Dance Inn, Indian Bollywood and Classical dances, musical band like ACapella, Magic show and many more. • You can relish Italian (Bertucci's), Indo-chinese and Indian (Holi) cuisines from the vegetarian food stalls and of course there will be hot jalebi, cupcakes and ice cream (Moe's)! Not to mention Dosa and Uttapam. • There will be booths/vendors (RSM, Empow Studios, Math, Einstein’s Workshop, Penguin Coding, DCU, Eastern Bank, Greater Boston Dentists, Webster, Brookline, LEF, etc.) from different communities displaying their wares and services. • There is entertainment for all ages including bounce houses, henna and face painting booths. • Finally, we will be playing with dry organic powdered colors – a tradition from India where we welcome spring and greet friends by applying colors on each other’s faces and throwing colors in air. We would like to invite the entire Lexington community to join us in this celebration.
