The Fight for Environmental Justice in India
Join Association for India’s Development (MIT & Boston chapters) for a talk by writer and social activist, Nityanand Jayaraman. 30 years since the world’s worst industrial disaster in Bhopal, India, the community that faced this inhumane tragedy is yet to realize justice. The struggle for environmental justice and community rights go beyond Bhopal and can be seen in every corner of the country. Nityanand Jayaraman will talk about some of these struggles, environmental regulations, the advent of coal plants as a mainstay source of energy in India, climate change and the fight to ensure community rights.
