Boston Bhangra Competition 2012

If you love dance or Bhangra, Boston was the place to be!  Boston Bhangra Inc. hosted their ninth annual Boston Bhangra Competition on Saturday, Nov. 10th  at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston. The event was packed with well over 2,200 people!

The competition level was very diverse and extremely competitive with teams from all over North America, according to organizers. Teams hailed from Vancouver Canada, Toronto, Canada, New Jersey, Michigan, Houston, Pennsylvania and Boston. 

Eleven  teams competed. Shan E Punjab from Vancouver Canada won the event, followed by FAUJ from Boston and Furteelay Shokeen from MIchigan.

The over three-hour event featured special performances from Bhangra superstars, Saini Surinder and Gupsy Aujla.  

Passage to India was the food vendor of choice and sold snacks, dinner and drinks at the venue. Some of major sponsors included TV Asia, Passage to India, Ocean Spray, Harvard Pilgrim Health Plan, Foley Hoag, WGBH, Jhankar, and India New England.

Next year’s event is already scheduled for Saturday, November 16th, 2013!
