UMass Lowell(UML)  won the Burlington Cricket Club Tournament - Dakshin Cup 2005 organized by Burlington Cricket Club (BCC) held at Mitre Grounds, Burlington.   Ten teams participated competed in the tournament held on  September 17-18, 2005.  Dakshin restaurant of Framingham sponsored the tournament.  

Each team had to play with two other teams in its pool before qualifying for the quarter-final.  All the matches were played with cricket tennis balls with full team of 11 and 12 overs innings.  Teams played with competitive yet friendly spirit and  matches kept excitement through the last ball. In the finals, organizing team BCC set a target   53 runs and UML scored 54 runs in 7 overs.

Runners Up: Burlington Cricket Club
Best Batsman: Satish - Burlington Cricket Club
Best Bowler: Ahmed - UMASS Lowell
Man of the Match: Sabeeh - UMASS Lowell
Man of the Series: Hiren - Baba Lowell
Most Spectacular Catch: Prasad - Burlington Cricket Club

The tournament was held with the aim to bring from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island together to show their cricket potential and have fun. “The sense of competition in the tournament is a great way to promote the game. There has been notable difference in qualify of the teams in just one year. The landscape has changed dramatically over the past few years where a bunch of guys would get together for a fun hour to the more organized and well prepared teams of today who provides entertaining cricket to watch,” said Karthik Natarajan, one of the organizers from BCC.   This was the last major tournament of the season providing the teams with an opportunity to show their cricketing prowess.
