Navratri, the festival of Goddess Durga

Comes with great pomp and glimmer
We celebrate this festival for nine nights

Each night we honors her nine manifestations.

Each day Ma Durga is venerated
As she embodies the power of creation

That influences preservation and destruction

Her cosmic seed is eternal, perpetual

We deck up our nation in vibrant colors

Worshipping Nava Durga bestows on us

Rejuvenation, happiness, and joyfulness

As each day’s color signifying the deity

The first three days we venerate her as

Ma Durga who destroys evil forces

The next three days we worship her as

Ma Lakshmi who grants wealth and success

The last three days we worship her as

Ma Sarasvati the Goddess of wisdom
The tenth day is a grand Vijayadashami

A victory day of Durga over demon Mahishasur

Dashara marks the triumph of Lord Rama

Over the Demon king Ravana, likewise
We create huge effigies of Ravana to burn

And play Ram Leela to remove bad Gunas

Navaratri, a festival of dance, music, and Colors

And Ma Durga seating majestically on a lion

Spreads her bright rays in every direction and
We see the holiness all around plus religious unity

We sing Her glory performing Garba dance
Stay grateful for Her divine armor around us

We offer floral tributes at Ma Durga’s feet

Invoking her blessings to fight against the evils
