Members of the Foundation of Indian Americans – New England (FIA-NE) met with Rhode Island’s political leadership at Senator Jack Reed’s 35th Annual Spring Family Breakfast

Nearly 20 members of the Foundation of Indian Americans – New England (“FIA-NE”) attended Senator Jack Reed’s 35th Annual Spring Family Breakfast at the Rhode Island Convention Center on Sunday, May 5, 2024. Senator Reed is the senior US Senator from Rhode Island, and the Chairman of US Senate Armed Services Committee.

FIA-NE’s President, Mr. Abhishek Singh, and other FIA-New England Executive Committee members and senior advisors, including Mr. Sanjay Gokhale, Mr. Rakesh Kavsari, Mr. Nikhil Wadhwa, and Mr. Anand Sharma attended this event. Other distinguished members of Indo-American community, including Mr. Kaushik Patel, Mr. Girish Soni, Dr. Amrut Patel, Mrs. Dina Patel, Mr. Sumesh Hirway, Dr. Apurva Gupta, Mrs. Anupama Gupta, Mr. Karan Salian, Dr. Snehal Lakhkar also joined the Foundation of Indian Americans’ delegation. Additionally, the future generation was represented by two school children: 17-years old, Rishi Gokhale and 12-years old Abhyuday Singh.

FIA-NE’s President, Mr. Abhishek Singh thanked Senator Reed for being a role model and an inspiration for the next generation. FIA-NE’s Vice President, Mr. Sanjay Gokhale, thanked Senator Reed for continuing to be a member of the Senate India Caucus. Senator Reed said that he had visited India last year as a member of a bipartisan Senate delegation and has met with Prime Minister Modi. He expressed hope to see stronger diplomatic and military ties between the US and India.

 

FIA-NE delegates also met with US Congressman from Rhode Island’s first Congressional district, Mr. Gabe Amo, congratulating him for his election to represent Rhode Island’s first Congressional district in the US House of Representatives.

FIA-NE Members also met with Rhode Island’s Governor, Mr. Daniel McKee, Rhode Island’s General Treasurer, Mr. James Diossa, Rhode Island’s Secretary of State, Mr. Gregg Amore, and the Mayor of East Providence, Mr. Roberto (Bob) DaSilva, and thanked them for their support and friendship.

Mr. Abhishek Singh and Mr. Sanjay Gokhale said, “FIA-NE believes that for stronger engagement with American civic leadership, it’s important to not only invite the leaders to Indian community events such as India Independence Day and Diwali, but also actively participating in mainstream American events.”  To that end, FIA-NE will organize celebration of America’s Independence Day, and also observe remembrance of September 11th and the bravery of our Firefighters, Police Officers and First Responders on that day for humanity’s common fight against the evils of terrorism and hatred.
