Dance Arangetrams: Year In Review - Part 1


Arangetram: Aarushi Pant
On July 2, 2022, in front of an audience of about 250 people, 18 year old Aarushi Pant, student of Guru Sridevi Ajai Thirumalai, performed her 3 hour solo Bharatnatyam Dance Arangetram. Aarushi, daughter of Mandy and Pankaj Pant, mesmerized the audience with her Nritta, Nritya and Natya.

Indian classical dance is sustained by a profound philosophy. Form seeks to merge with the formless, motions seek to become a part of the motionless, and the dancing individual seeks to become one with the eternal dance of the cosmos. This phenomenon was truly expressed and experienced by the talented students of the Lasya School of Dance - Sophia John and Anjana Menon.

Shreya Srinivasan and Lakshya Srinivasan, students of Acharya Soumya Rajaram (Samskriti School of Dance) presented their maiden recital, Arangetram, at Lexington Christian Academy on July 9, 2022. They enthralled the audience with their flair for the art form. And as a member of the audience, we experienced the beauty of the classical Margam in its entirety.

June might still be early arangetram season in New England, but Joshika Selvaraj’s Bharatanatyam debut recital on June 18th will definitely go down as one of my top 'picks' of this season. Joshika, a disciple of Guru Sapna Krishnan, took the audience to a state of pure bliss and joy, as she made everyone forget time, space and showcased her craft.

Aditi Venkatesh a student Smt. Suman Adisesh of Spanda school of dance, Acton MA presented her arangetram at Sri Lakshmi Temple in Ashland. Adithi Venkatesh is a bundle of energy and talent with a beautiful stage presence and strong sense of rhythm.

Neha Khandekar, a rising senior and a student of Smt. Suman Adisesh of Spanda School of Dance, presented her Bharatanatyam Arangetram on August 6, 2022. Neha danced a rare keerthanam “Mohana Kalyani” of Meenakshi Suta alias Nagaraj in Ragamalika.
