Boston Bhangra Competition 2011
The eighth annual Boston Bhangra Competition will take place on Saturday, November 12th, 2011 at the world renowned Orpheum Theatre. We will have 12 of the best bhangra teams from North America & Canada compete to be crowned the Boston Bhangra Champions! The last 7 years have sold out with an attendance of 3,000 people!
Bhangra is a folk dance that originates from the state of Punjab, India and Pakistan. It is a celebratory dance that is very energetic and fun to watch. It has been compared to a fusion of hip hop and cheerleading with a cultural twist! It has been integrated into many hip hop/reggae songs, and is one of the most upcoming foreign dance forms in the world!
We will also have special guest performances by the legendary Nirmal Sidhu from India. He has mega hit songs like: Bindrakhia Boliyaan, Sher Punjabi Putt, Char Panj, Rarkhe, Punjabi and MANY MORE!
