Learn about a 4,000-year-old musical tradition through this documentary that celebrates the artistry and origins of North Indian classical music. Raga Unveiled features, for the first time in one film, Ravi Shankar, Bhimsen Joshi, Gangubai Hangal, Zakir Hussain, Shubha Mudgal and dozens of other master musicians. Producer Gita Desai introduces the film.

Steve Gorn plays with liquid grace. He is a master of sound-magic; may the world discover his gift. --Paul Winter

Steve Gorn has performed Indian classical music and new American music on the bansuri (bamboo flute) throughout the world. At PEM he offers a unique presentation on raga-meditation and explains the aspects of this musical principle. Gorn will be accompanied by tabla player Akshay Navaladi, an international, award-winning performer and a student at Boston University working toward a degree in biomedical engineering. Gorn has worked with a range of artists, including musician Paul Simon, Academy Award-nominated director Julie Taymor and film director and choreographer Jerome Robbins. A tea reception follows the concert.
