Hindustani Music Day -NEHTI
NEHTI committee on Youth, Cultural and Educational program is proud to invite Hindustani Music students to participate in the Special Hindustani Music day. Program will start sharp at 8:30 AM and this day-long event is open to students to render Hindustani classical Music. We request the area music teachers to join us by encouraging their students to participate in the event. Students can present vocal or instrumental Hindustani Classical Music as individual solo performance or a group performance (Maximum of 4 per group). Our goal is to help and encourage youth to learn Hindustani Music and hence the recommended age group is 5 to 25 years. Each item (solo or group) can be up to a maximum of10 minutes in length. Teachers need to collect a $10 fee per participant per item that will go towards planning future youth activities at Sri Lakshmi Temple- NEHTI YCEP. The NEHTI YCEP is also proud to announce one scholarship in amount of $1,000 to the best performance (judged by an independent panel of judges) from participating 12th grade student entering college in Fall of 2008.This competition is for Hindustani Vocal and instrumental music only and for students who are not currently professional musicians or working towards becoming professional musicians. 11th grade students who are participating will get a certificate of participation. This competition will start at 8:30A.M and will go till all the 12th Grade participants have finished performances. An electronic tanpura and/or electronic tabla will be provided for accompaniment.
