Corn and Fruit Festival (Phal Daan Mela)
New England Hindu Temple Inc. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ NEHTI Committee on Youth, Cultural and Educational Program and Sri Lakshmi Temple operations repeats a special event to enhance the diversity at NEHTI by popular demand by devotees. We are proud to extend an open invitation to all devotees to come, participate and enjoy a summer afternoon with fellow devotees in a grand mela with prayer to Goddess of Prosperity, Sri Mahalakshmi, in the form of Sowbhagya Lakshmi. Sowbhagya means unending harmony and auspiciousness, in other words we would like to pray to Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi for continued and long lasting prosperity. Prosperity includes good wealth and good health besides other desires. Let us all join hands and pray for everyone’s good health by sharing good and healthy food. Sri Mahalakshmi ji ki Puja with a Special Mela by donating and sharing fruits (Phal Daan) as a symbol of promoting good health for every one Please join us on Sunday, 13th August 2006 And enjoy the mela with Fruits and Bhutta (Grilled fresh corn lazed with spices and lemon) In the front yard of the temple from 1 PM to 4 PM (Subject to Weather conditions) Let us pray to Sri Mahalakshmi for Sowbhagya to every one. Sowbhagya (prosperity) includes good health and good health comes from good eating habits and healthy food. Good food includes all kind of purified food containing all essential vitamins, minerals, protein, calcium, carbohydrate and so on. Fruits are a good source of such essential vitamins and minerals. With the grace of mother Sri Mahalakshmi one gets all essential nutrients in grains, fruits, vegetables and other foods. On this day our simple prayer will be to offer fruits to Sri Mahalakshmi and share that with the fellow devotees. From ancient days it is well known that the great gift to mankind is often the gift of Food (Annadanam, sharing of food with fellow human beings). It is traditional to offer money to Goddess Mahalakshmi, the giver of all wealth along with the offering of food. It is suggested that devotees who wish participate in this prayer bring fresh fruits (Please avoid Apples and bananas, we already have a donor) and offer that with some money as a token of their good will. Please come and join us in this prayer and relish the Chat Phat Bhutta (Grilled fresh Corn on the web lazed with spices and lemon), and varieties of fruits supplied by the devotees to be provided at no cost to the devotees (courtesy of YCEP and temple operations). Suggested list of fruits, Melons, Mango, Oranges, Cherries, Strawberries, Pears etc
