“Marvels of Voice†- Mrs. Shruti Sadolikar-Katkar
Raagmaala and Blackstone River Theatre invite you to an Indian Classical Vocal Music Concert featuring one of India’s top ranking vocalists Mrs. Shruti Sadolikar-Katkar. Shruti sings the most popular genre of Indian Classical Music known as “Khayalâ€, meaning imagination. She represents the Jaipur-Atrauli School known for intricate filigree like musical phrases and marked both by complexity and restraint. Her music can be characterized by a supreme imagination and a deep understanding of the grammatical structure of this haloed tradition, the foundation of which was laid by Ustad Alladiya Khan. Her father, Pt.Vamanrao Sadolikar, a direct disciple of the Ustad, was her first teacher. She also studied with Pt.Gullubhai Jasdanwalla and Ustad Azizuddin Khan, grandson of the founder. Shruti Sadolikar-Katkar has been a visiting professor at the Rotterdam Conservatorium, Netherlands. She has many cassettes and CDs to her credit.
Anandagopal Bandopadhyay is a master tabla player in the famous Banaras tradition. He has performed at the World Youth Festival (Berlin), and Festival of India in Maryland, Boston, New York, and San Francisco. He has performed with virtually every famous musician of India. He is associated with Faculty of Music and Fine Arts, University of Delhi; & Amir Khusro Society, Chicago, USA. At present he is a senior member of Faculty at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata.
Harmonium accompanist shri Jyoti Goho has enthralled audiences in USA, during his tours with ITC-SRA. He is a full time senior faculty of ITC- SRA. He studied with Sanat Banarjee, Shri Biren Bose, Shri A.T.Kanan, and Shri Deb Kumar Banarjee. He is a choice Accompanist with the leading vocalists of India.
