Press Release - Saheli Concert (featuring Natraj, Karyshma and Kiran Bedi as Guest Speaker)
Saheli, Friendship for South Asian Women, will be holding its annual fundraiser, at the Brookline High School on July 24 th , 2004 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. The event, titled Rhythm & Spice, will feature an evening of live fusion music, with performances by Natraj, the acclaimed jazz and world-music ensemble that melds “hard-driving African grooves and graceful Indian ragas and contemporary jazz” to create a unique blend of music, and Karyshma, which “brings together the intensity of rock, the improvisation of jazz, and the intricacies of India’s musical traditions”. Dr. Kiran Bedi, trailblazer and author, the first woman police commissioner in India and pioneer of policing and prison reform, will be the Chief Guest at the event.
