Indian Songs / NEC
For the first time in the Boston area, as part of a concert that will showcase different types of Indian music, Manisha Shahane has been invited to sing a short set of Indian Standards, so to speak . . . She has decided to sing songs that are special to her or have been influential in some way . . . for you film buffs, that includes selections from Umrao Jaan (1981), Parakh (1960), and Tu Sukhi Raha (1960) or maybe Putra Whava Aisa (1961). There will also be a North Indian (or Hindustani) classical singing presentation during the evening, among other performances. Western instruments are not allowed as part of this gig, so she will not be featuring material from the new release, but she will bring along copies of the CD with her, in case any of you would like to buy some from her directly. So please come out for this unique concert!
