Nadajyothi Muthuswamy Dikshitar Jayanthi in Boston Guruguha Vaibhavam 2020 On Saturday April 18, 2020 Experience the exquisite classical music compositions of Muthuswami Dikshitar rendered by teachers and students from the schools in the Boston area. A special tribute to the great composer from 18th century, one of the pioneers of preservation of South Indian classical music. The event features several of his classic compositions in Sanskrit by solo performers (vocal and veena,synth) and group performers from various schools of music in Boston area, with violin,mridangam accompaniments. The event is designed to be educational, celebrating the masterpieces of the great composer. Information about Dikshitar and the uniqueness of his featured compositions will be presented in a background slideshow. Event also features Dikshitar and Shanmatham - A presentation. Great composers have frequently built on what came before them, making stories, philosophy and more accessible to ever newer audiences. Carnatic composer Muthuswamy Dikshitar incorporated Adi Shankara’s advaitha philosophy espoused a millennia earlier into his musical compositions. Smt. Chitra Srikrishna’s “Shanmatham and Dikshitar†presents how Dikshitar’s compositions build on Shankara’s work emphasizing those featuring six different deities all highlighting the Brahman within.
