One Saturday May 21st BAPS Charities Lowell Chapter will be starting their 16th annual walkathon. This year, BAPS Charities will support The Nature Conservancy’s efforts to plant and restore over 1.6 million acres of land by planting one billion trees by 2025 through their Plant a Billion Trees initiative. Every year, BAPS Charities organizes Walkathons throughout North America. BAPS Charities Walk Green 2016 is a Walkathon event to raise funds for The Nature Conservancy. Join over 17,000 walkers in over 50 cities in North America and help us support the planting of 100,000 trees in 2016. BAPS Charities engages volunteers in the service of their local communities across five areas: health, education, humanitarian aid, community empowerment, and environmental initiatives. A collective spirit of volunteerism enables BAPS Charities to serve cities and suburbs across North America. The annual Walkathon held at over 50 locations brings together over 17,000 people in support of national and local causes. This year’s walkathon, Walk Green 2016, benefits The Nature Conservancy’s Plant a Billion Trees initiative. The Nature Conservancy is working towards planting one billion trees in an effort to restore and replant over 1.6 billion acres of natural space. Trees are essential in producing clean air and water for millions of people in North America, and the natural canopy created by trees traps carbon dioxide as a means of cooling the planet.
