Celebrating Pohela Boishakh is also known as Bengali New Year 1421
The first day of Bangla New Year 1421 ‘Pohela Boishakh’ is on the horizon! Pohela Boishakh is a festival that roots deep into our identity as Bengalis. New England Bangladesh American Foundation cordially invite you and your family to attend the upcoming Bangla New Year -1421 celebration. This event is to be held On April 25, 26 and 27th, 2014. April 25th Friday, Pohela Boishak opening ceremony Time : 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm. April 26th Saturday Fair and musical program Time: 11:00 am to 12:00 am. April 27th Sunday, Fair and musical program. Time: 11:00 am to 10:00 pm. Admission entry free only tickets for musical program. Tickets are available for sale at the local Bangla grocery stores, Neema Market, Taj Mahal (Deshi Bazar) grocery and Darul Kabab restaurant. Also On Sunday April 27, 2014 at 2pm we will be screening the film “Chittagong†as part of our “Pohela Boishak†program in Boston. The film stars Manoj Bajpai, and is based upon actual events of British India’s (now in Bangladesh) Chittagong Uprising. The film features music by trio Shankar Ehsaan Loy and sound by Resul Pookutty. Chittagong is a 2012 Indian historical war drama film directed/produced by Bedabrata Pain. Come on by on April 27 between 2-5 for a free showing of this film, where you can meet Bedabrata Pain (the director), and participate in a Q&A session after the film.
