Classical Odissi Dance - Meru Foundation and AIF
A BENEFIT CONCERT FOR THE UTTARKHAND RELIEF FUND
Renowned Odissi dancer Madhavi Mudgal and the Gandharva Troupe from India present Vistaar, tradition and innovation in the Odissi classical dance style.
Trained under legendary Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Madhavi has received numerous awards including the Padma Shri, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, and the Chevalier des l’ordre des arts letters by the Govt. of France.
Madhavi Mudgal will present her new choreography, Vistaar, an expansion in all directions that reinforces the core. It explores vistas that uses the basic time cycle as the foundation upon which multiple variations of rhythm, movement and spatial structures are generated through the vocabulary of Odissi dance movement.
