2nd Annual Deshpande Symposium on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Higher Education
The Deshpande Foundation helps accelerate the creation of sustainable, scalable enterprises that have significant social and economic impact. The Deshpande Foundation has also been bringing together institutions of higher education that share a common interest in innovation and entrepreneurship. Last year it held the first symposium on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Higher Education hosted at the University of Massachusetts Lowell and it was very well received.

This year it will be holding the Symposium on June 12 and 13 in partnership with the University of Massachusetts Lowell to bring together like minded professionals focused on the Entrepreneurial University – in the curriculum, as enterprise generators and as examples of entrepreneurially driven institutions.

We are also pleased to have three renowned keynote speakers address the core themes of the symposium:
• Prof. Donald Sadoway of MIT, a leading battery and energy expert, on accelerating ideas to market,

• Kerry Healey, former Lt. Governor of Massachusetts and President Elect, Babson College on the Entrepreneurial University

• Lance Collins, Dean of Engineering at Cornell University, on the public private partnership leading to the new Cornell Tech NYC campus

We have invited national speakers to address the three core symposium themes:

• Entrepreneurship in the Curriculum: Cross-disciplinary and experiential approaches to encouraging entrepreneurial thinking
• University Commercialization & Startups: Accelerating ideas from the lab to market
• Entrepreneurial Universities, Culture & Ecosystems: Changing cultures, building collaborations, strengthening relationships and communities focused on innovation
