William Dalrymple - The Last Mughal: The End of a Dynasty
Lecture at the MFA

William Dalrymple - The Last Mughal: The End of a Dynasty.

Dalrymple’s 2006 masterpiece, The Last Mughal, detailed the dramatic downfall of the great Mughal empire that ruled India between the mid-16th and mid-19th centuries. Since then, he has gone on to co-curate a ground-breaking exhibition at the Asia Society entitled “Princes and Painters in Mughal Delhi, 1707 – 1857,” which looked at Indian art from the crucial period when Delhi moved from being the heart of the late Mughal Empire to becoming the jewel in the crown of the British Raj. Join us for a discussion of this fascinating period in Indian history in which Dalrymple brings to vivid life the culture of Mughal Delhi in its final days.
