A Carnatic Vocal Music Concert / Ms Vidya Ganapathy
Vidya Ganapathy: Vdiya received her initial training in Carnatic vocal music from Mrs.Rukmini Rajagopalan and subsequently, she became a disciple of a highly eminent musician Padmabhushan Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman. A recipient of Merit Scholarship from the Government of India, for Carnatic vocal music, Vidya was selected to participate in the Youth Music Talent Promotion program conducted by the State of Tamil Nadu and in the Youth Music Concert Series conducted by the Music Academy, Chennai. She has won several music competitions conducted by organizations such as Music Academy, Mylapore Fine Arts, Indian Fine Arts, Narada Gana Sabha and Vani Mahal. She has also received Tambura prizes for the best concert of the year from VDS Arts Academy, Chennai and for the Thyagaraja Kriti competition from Indian Fine Arts Society. Vidya has performed in many well-known music forums in India and the USA, such as the Directorate of Art and Culture, the Music Academy (Spirit of Youth series), Kartik Fine Arts, the Indian Fine Arts Society Mylapore Fine Arts, Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, all of them of Chennai, Pallavi of Troy, NY, University of California, Santa Barbara, Thyagaraja Music Society at Buffalo, NY and Cornell University, NY. Vidya has been regularly performing in the December concert season concerts in Chennai for the last seven years. K. Ramesh: Ramesh is a disciple of Sangeetha Kalanidhi Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman. He also learned Mridangam from Thindukkal Ramamoorthy and R. Ramanadhan. Ramesh has accompanied many renowned musicians including Trichur Ramachandran, Thrivengadu Jayaraman, Veena artistes Pitchumani Iyer and Veena Gayatri. He is also a winner of the All India Radio Music Competition. Ram Naidu: Ram started his music training nearly twenty five years back with Smt. Jagagadambal Charles. Later, he became a disciple of the eminent Veena Vidwan and Musicologist Smt. Vidya Shankar of Chennai. Ram has accompanied his Guru at numerous public concerts, notably at the Madras Music Academy and Sri Krishna Gana Sabha. He was also a Youth artist on the All India Radio. Ram has been an active performer and Veena teacher since his arrival in the Boston area. He has presented many concerts at M.I.T. and other institutions in the area. He has also played Veena in numerous Arangetrams and public dance performances by the students of Smt. Neena Gulati.
