Shakti - Women of Power / MIT Natya
The theme of the show is 'Shakti - Women of Power', in which we wish to showcase the witty, powerful, and didactic stories of three Indian women in Hindu mythology - Kannagi, Savitri, and Draupadi. The performance this year is a unique combination of drama and dance. Our inspiration for the show came from a desire to display prominent women in South Asian culture and the mark they have made upon gender roles in Indian society.
