~ARPANA, A Three-Day Festival of Indian Classical Dance and Music~
ARPANA, a three-day festival of Indian classical dance and music, celebrates the 25th anniversary of Nrityanjali, a Bharathanatyam dance school based in Lexington, MA, founded by artistic director, choreographer and dancer, Jothi Raghavan in 1977. Musicians and dancers from India will be collaborating with locally based musicians and dancers to produce and perform Arpana. Performances will feature Bharathanatyam, other dance-theatre productions and concerts of traditional Carnatic and Hindustani music as well as world music groups. “The Indian Arts: An Invisible Thread” is the theme of the workshops and panel discussions that will take place throughout the festival.10:00 am: VANDANAM (Tribute) featuring Ganesha (The Auspicious) by Nrityanjali (free event) 1:00 pm: lunch 2:00 pm: INVISIBLE THREAD: panel discussion 4:30 pm: Bharatanatyam by Dhananjayans 6:00 pm: Natraj World Music ( sponsored in part by NEFA) 8:00 pm: Lakshmi Vishwanathan’s BANYAN TREE
