The Untouchable - Movie
The Untouchable by Benoît Jacquot (France, 2006, 82 min). On her birthday, Jeanne’s mother reveals that her father is Indian, a Hindu she met on her travels. An “Untouchable”, her mother says. Jeanne is an actress and immediately abandons the rehearsals of Brecht’s “Saint Joan of the Stockyards”, which her lover is directing, to get to India immediately. Yet first she must take a role in a mainstream film (which she had earlier resisted because of a demeaning sex scene) to finance the trip. One, which she hopes will give her existence new meaning by searching out the man who gave her life. French with English subtitles.
