| Kalari Ppayatu and Mohini Attam ongoing classes Where: 16 Gibbens St Somerville, MA Kalari payatu is a martial art from Kerala, India . Originally used in combats and self-defense, kalari is now a favorite of all dancers. It is known for its strong form and beauty. Training in Kalari helps to understand human body better and to live a healthy life. Mohini Attam is a well-known classical dance from Kerala, India . It is an elegant form rich in graceful movements and facial expressions. Anil Kumar Sukumara Pillai, a dancer, teacher, and a choreographer from Triuvanathapuram, is one of the best Kalari teachers in India. Anil has also trained in Bharatanatyam, Mohini Attam, and Kuchupudi. He has performed all over the world including at the Edinburgh Dance Festival. For the past two years he has been working with Aparna Sindhoor. He currently heads a branch of Navarasa Dance Theater in Triuvanathapuram, India. Pratheesh Shivandan, a dancer, and a teacher from Triuvanathapuram, India, has trained in Bharatanatyam, Mohini Attam, Kuchupudi and Kalari Payattu. He has performed all over the world. For the past two years he has been working with Aparna Sindhoor. He currently works as a teacher in the branch of Navarasa Dance Theater in Mysore, India.
