| Promoting Tolerance & Respect:A Symposium in Lowell on Hate Crimes, Discrimination, and Harassment The Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General is sponsoring a civil rights symposium for members of the Arab, Muslim, South Asian, Hindu and Sihk communities in greater Lowell metropolitan region. The purpose of the symposium is to educate members of these communities in their right to be free of harassment, hateful conduct and discrimination in employment and housing under the Massachusetts Civil Rights Act. The title of the symposium is: "Promoting Tolerance and Respect: A Symposium on Addressing Hate Crimes, Discrimination, and Harassment." The symposium will feature panels of speakers on the topics of how to identify hate crimes, harassment and discrimination, the role of local police and the state Attorney Generals Office in protecting you from such conduct, and the availability of resources from community organizations and other non-profit entities. The Massachusetts Office of Attorney General is sponsoring the symposium together with the Lowell Police Department, the Islamic Society of Greater Lowell, the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, and the Muslim Students Association of the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
