| Engendering Governance in India / Dr. Nandini Azad Dr. Nandini Azad's talk will focus on Women’s social movements and NGO’s in India. In specific it will discuss through field level examples her work relating to advocating gender sensitive legislation, processes and budgeting. Nandini is a big advocate for women's rights and has worked to influence the Government of India on several key legislation affecting women. Dr. Azad is a grass roots advocacy activist who has worked with women, the poor and micro finance in several regions of India, including the remote tribal areas of Bihar, Jharkhand and Orissa. Having studied in Syracuse University in USA, she is now Member Secretary of a Federation of NGO’s in New Delhi called the Independent Commission for Peoples Rights and Development (ICPRD).
