Free Sanskrit Classes
Samkrtam Classes at SriLakshmi Temple, Ashland, MA, 2005-2006 session The 2005-2006 session of Samskrtam classes will commence at SriLakshmi Temple( www.nehti.org ) on Sunday, September 25, with a meeting of ALL interested students at 2:00 PM. The meeting will be held at the Priest Quarters Basement Classroom. Samskrtam classes in various levels(Spoken Samskrtam, Novice, Beginners, Intermediate I, Intermediate II, Advanced) depending on ability in reading, writing and comprehension will be offered. The classes are free, but regular attendance and due diligence in studies and homework are required. Classes will be held on Sundays(mornings/afternoon). The semester will be for sixteen weeks and will end on February 12, 2006(accounting for long weekend holidays in the middle) . A formal test for all levels will be held on February 12, 2006. Level Timing Pre-requisites ------ ------ -------------- Spoken Sanskrit 12PM - 1:30PM No Pre-requisites Novice 1:30PM - 2:30PM No Pre-requisites Beginners 10:30AM - 12PM Devanagari reading and writing, pronunciation Intermediate I 1:30PM - 3:00PM Beginner level + Basic grammar skills Intermediate II 10:30AM - 12PM Intemediate I level + Medium grammar skills Advanced (once a month) 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM Intermediate II + Good grammar skills Samskrta Subodhini - A Sanskrit Primer by Professor Madhav Deshpande will be used as a textbook supplemented by traditional and scriptural literature. All intending students are required to procure a copy of the book (Amazon.com or Schoehoff's book store in Cambridge).
