North Indian Classical Concert - Sitar
Raagmaala brings master sitarist Sugato Nag with tabla virtuoso Subhankar Banerjee in concert. Sugato is a popular Sitar player in the traditions of Ustad Vilayat Khan and Senia Shahajahnpur. He is now a disciple of the living Sarode legend Pt. Buddhadev Das Gupta. Sugato performs globally. Subhankar has performed with world famous Pt. Ravi Shankar several times. He has also performed with Dr. L Subramaniam, John McLaughlin, Shiv Kumar, Hari Prasad, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and others. The concert is cosponsored by the Department of Religious Studies at Brown University, Kabob and Curry Restaurant of Rhode Island, and India Museum and Heritage Society.
