| Carnatic Violin Recital / K.V.S. Vinay Artiste: K.V.S. Vinay Accompaniments: Pravin Sitaram (Mridangam), C. Gaurishankar (Khanjira) About the artistes K.V.S. Vinay hails from a musical family. He is the grandson of Sangeetha Kalanidhi late T.K. Jayarama Iyer, violinist and composer. Vinay had his initial training from Mrs. Vanaja Ararvamuthan and subsequently trained under late Sri V. Janakiraman and his uncle Sri Kovai B. Dakshinamurthy. A concert performer for 18 years, Vinay has several accompanied several leading musicians and performed as a successful solo artiste. He has featured on national radio and TV in India and has won many awards including an Indian government scholarship for training in music. Vinay is an economist by profession. Pravin Sitaram hails from a family steeped in Carnatic traditions. He had his training under Sri P.S. Parameswaran, of the Palghat Mani Iyer school, in Mumbai. Over the years has embellished concerts by local artistes and top visiting artistes from India with his understanding accompaniment. Pravin holds a PhD in polymer chemistry and resides in the Greater Boston Area. C. Gaurishankar is a versatile percussionist. Trained in Mridangam by Sri Tiruchi Raghava Iyer, he is also adept at playing the Khanjira and the North Indian Dholak. Gaurish has been performing creditably for the last few seasons as an accompanist to music concerts and dance arangetrams in the Greater Boston Area. He is a software engineer by profession.
