Audition -seeking 5 actors
We are seeking 5 actors: 2 women, 2 men of no particular age, and a child of either sex, who should look young and have a sense of innocence. As this play lends itself to stylized movement, actors with some movement/dance training are preferred.
"BLACKY'S TRUNK / KALU KA BAKSAA" is written in English and Hindi, and is set in the high tradition of tragicomedy. A play in 2 acts, "BLACKY'S TRUNK / KALU KA BAKSAA" alternates between English and Hindi in each act. The play captures a sense of multiplicity within each individual's Self. Above all, "BLACKY'S TRUNK / KALU KA BAKSAA" is very much a celebration that considers timeless human values as we are propelled into an increasingly multi-cultural 21st century. Finally, the play is structured in such a manner that an audience member knowing only one language -- only English or only Hindi -- will understand the entire play by the end of the performance.
