Internationally Recognized Sarod Player Pandit Pushpen Dey
Sarod is one of the most popular among the Indian Classical instruments. Although there are different hypotheses of origin, it is almost well accepted that the predecessor of modern sarod was an Afghan plucked instrument, called ‘Rabab’. Sarod has produced great maestros like Ustad Keramatullah Khan, Ustad Allaudin Khan, Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan, Pandit Radhika Mohan Moitra, and Pandit Budhadev Dasgupta. Sarod is mostly popularized in India and abroad by none other than great musician Ustad Aliakbar Khan.
