Naam Enke Pokiroam/G. Viswanathan
NewEngland Tamil Sangam proudly presents an evening with Mr. G. Viswanathan, former Minister of Tamil Nadu Government, and former Member of Parliament of India.
Mr. Viswanathan is a great Tamil scholar and orator. He has spent significant amount of his life representing Tamil community and the language. It is a great opportunity to hear the words of experienced politician, educator, orator, scholar, and who really cares about well being of Tamil and her children.
Mr. Viswanathan holds a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in Economics from Loyola College, Chennai, and q Bachelors degree in Law from Madras Law College. He represented Vellore constituency for more than 10 years in the Parliament of India before he turned into state politics. There he represented the Vellore constituency for more than 8 years. During that period he also served as a Cabinet Minister in the Government of TamilNadu. During his tenure as a politician, Mr. Viswanathan had vast experience in representing the state and the country in many aspects of Indian Economics and Culture. After retiring from politics, he has founded the Vellore engineering college, which is now a deemed university known as Vellore Institute of Technology. At present he is serving as the Chancellor of that university. He is one of the very few chosen to attend an advance management program conducted in Harvard University, and at present he is in Boston area attending that program. He expects to complete that program by the end of October and then return to India
