| N. Ravikiran / A Carnatic Chitravina Concert N. RAVIKIRAN TARA ANAND on the Violin VINOD SEEETHARAMAN on the Mridangam Chitraveena N. Ravikiran -------------------------- Chitraveena Legend, N. Ravikiran is considered to be an unprecedented phenomenon in the history of world music. He started learning vocal music from his father Narasimhan at a very young age of 2 and started performing at the age of 5. He switched to Chitraveena at the age of 12 and soon revolutionized the science and art of playing this rare but beautiful instrument. He has won numerous awards, the most notable being the award given by Millennium Festival Commission, UK. Ravikiran's program in collaboration with BBC Philharmonic orchestra, UK was selected as the best of the millennium. This is first of its kind given for Indian Music akin to Olympic Gold. Ravikiran's innovations include crossover/fusion forays, with leading world artistes in concerts or recordings like the best-selling CD 'Mumtaz Mahal', featuring, besides him, the Blues singer and guitarist, Taj Mahal, and North Indian Instrumentalist Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. Tara Anand ------------ Tara Anand, an accomplished violinist and vocalist, began vocal training at the age of four. Her gurus include T.M.Thiagarajan, K.V.Krishnan and Shankara Sharma. She began violin at the age of eight with Vedavalli Ramaswami of Delhi and T.Rukmini of Chennai. Tara has received numerous awards from the Music Academy and Krishna Gana Sabha in Madras, including best junior artists for three consecutive years. She has accompanied many leading artists, T.R.Subramaniam, M.L.Vasantha Kumari, Prof.Ramanathan, and Sudha Raghunathan to name a few. She has also performed in concerts with her guru T. Rukmini. She presently teaches Carnatic music (both vocal and violin) in Boston area. Vinod Seetharaman ------------------- Vinod Seetharaman was a disciple of Shri Ardhanareeswaran, Padmashri Umayalpuram Sivaraman, and currently with Bangalore Shri Arjun Kumar. He has accompanied many renowned artists and has won many music awards. He is a graded All India Radio artist and has performed on national television in India.
