As part of the 5th year anniversary Women's Day and Women's History Month celebration Navarasa Dance Theater is hosting two workshops that are educative and entertaining leading up to the final performance "When Earth Sings" Dance Theater by Aparna Sindhoor The performance is on March 14 and 15 at 8pm at Tower Auditorium of Mass Art, 621 Huntington Avenue, Boston. Rajini Srikanth teaches in the English department and Asian American Studies program at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Her works include CONTOURS OF THE HEART: SOUTH ASIANS MAP NORTH AMERICA, a co-edited anthology of fiction, poetry, essays, and photography by South Asians in North America, and A PART, YET APART: SOUTH ASIANS IN ASIAN AMERICA, a multidisciplinary collection of essays that explore the conflicted position of South Asians within the category of "Asian America." Her teaching and scholarship attempt to connect literature to sociocultural and political urgencies. Brian Rawson performs original songs and covers in English and Spanish using guitar, voice, and harmonica. He brings music to multicultural activist work, performing for labor, health, and disarmament conferences in places such as Montreal, Nairobi, and San Salvador. In the US he has performed in farmers markets (Cambridge, Somerville), "Peace Sing Outs!" (Cambridge), and The Great Labor Arts Exchange (Washington DC). With Aparna Sindhoor, Brian has performed as musician for Agua, Water, Thaneer, as Narrator for The Hunt and The Incident and After, and Co-director and actor in Visa: It's Nowhere You Want to Be.
