Samip Mallick, Co-Founder of the South Asian American Digital Archives
Mallick is the co-founder and Executive Director of the SAADA, the only independent non-profit organization working nationally to give voice to South Asian Americans through documenting, preserving and sharing stories that reflect their diverse experiences.

http://www.saadigitalarchive.org Since the organization's inception in 2008, SAADA has built a digital archive of over 1,600 discrete items, undertaken innovative initiatives like its First Days Project, and through outreach and educational programming has raised awareness about the rich history of South Asians in the United States.

You can browse their site to read about

Who was the 16th Century Mughal Princess of Mexico?
Why were 22 ‘Hindoos’ arrested when they landed in 1913? And who were called 'Hindoos'?

Plus the stories of hundreds of South Asian immigrants on their first day in the US as part of the First Days Project. You can even add your own First Day story and become a part of history.

The SAADA website received nearly 200,000 visitors from around the world in the last year alone and the organization has been covered by the New York Times, NPR, BBC World Service, India Abroad and other publications both in the U.S. and in South Asia.

Mallick was formerly the Director of the Ranganathan Center for Digital Information (RCDI) at the University of Chicago Library.
