Mitti Ke Rang: Indian Folk-Fusion Musical Concert Benefiting Sankara Eye Foundation

India is a country of many colors, a vibrant culture and multiple languages. To showcase aspects of our rich heritage and regional diversity, Leher Boston presents to the New England community “Mitti Ke Rang”, a unique Indian Folk Fusion concert with the hope and determination to bring COLOR into the dark lives of the underprivileged in India suffering from preventable and curable blindness.

LEHER, a Boston based South Asian band established in 2012, consists of 10 talented musicians and singers who joined together with the goal to present various genres of Indian music to the local community. The musicians and vocalists of LEHER are on a journey to share their love for beautiful music and make a difference in the community by supporting noble initiatives. This time they bring “MITTI KE RANG”: a musical concert benefiting Sankara Eye Foundation to be held on, May 11th from 4PM at Diamond Middle School, Lexington, MA.

Leher will be showcasing a night of popular Indian Folk music from several regions of India with a Fusion Twist. Guest performances by Raganjali School of Music and a SURPRISE performance awaits you.

The concert will be graced by honorable guests Mrs. Poonam Ahluwalia, Woman of the Year 2013, a social entrepreneur and the founder and director YES and YouthTrade, and Mr. Murali Krishnamurthy, Founder and Executive Chairman of Sankara Eye Foundation, USA. Mansee Sangani, Miss Jewel of India USA 2014 will also be joining us as a guest. All proceeds from this concert will go to Sankara Eye Foundation with the goal of saving 200 eyes!

Sankara Eye Foundation is a US-based non profit organization whose mission is to eradicate curable blindness in India by the year 2020 by raising money to provide free eye surgeries/care for the poor all over India. So far, the organization has helped build over 9 eye hospitals in India and in the year 2011 alone SEF has provided over 140,000 free surgeries in India. SEF helped fund its millionth free eye surgery in 2013.

LEHER is proud to be a part of SEF mission of 20/20 by year 2020 and through Mitti ke Rang concert, has pledged to give the gift of vision to over 200 visually challenged people.
