Super Moms: A Dance Competition For Moms Of All Ages
SUPER MOMS, a dance competition for moms of all ages, organized by GURJAR, Gujarati Association of NE will be held on May 4, 2014 starting 3:30 pm.
It is the first time ever that a competition as such is being organized in the New England area. Gurjar is celebrating its 35/36 year anniversary and is looking to do some unique programs.
The President, Eshani Shah said that each year we do youth program for all member kids and others giving them a platform to showcase their talent. However, lately I noticed that a lot of adults were also participating. With the onset of so many Indian channels in the last few years, Bollywood music has become very popular. Last year Zee TV had aired a dance Competition for Moms called “Super Moms”. It was amazing to see the effort the mothers put in. As I was watching it, I missed being on that platform and am sure so did other mothers.
For singing one can be a bathroom singer but for dancing a stage is a must. This competition is a platform we wanted to give the Moms to showcase their talents. To make the competition fair, we divided it in 2 categories: Under 40 and Above 40. Solos and Groups. To spice to it up, we added a duo category where a mother can dance with son/daughter. Amazingly, we received a total of 25 plus entries for all categories combined. We are extremely excited with the response.
All participating Moms are working hard to put their best foot forward and we are hoping that everyone in the community comes and supports the event and cheers the Moms. The tickets are $5 only. The event is at Parker Middle School, 45 Temple Street, Reading MA. The competition begins at 3:30 pm but as mentioned we are also having a Youth program starting at 2 pm and the $5 tickets is for the full event so come and enjoy talent of all age groups. BSL, DJ YOGZ is going to light up the stage. Shobha Shastry of Alankar decorators is sponsoring the awards. Smita Dedhiya of Smitas Boutique is also a sponsor.
