IAFPE Elects New Executive Committee

IAFPE elected its new Executive Committee for 2014-16 at its General Body Meeting on March 2, 2014. The committee consists of:

 Anupam Wali, President
Sonali Lappin – Vice President
Sapna Agarwal – Secretary
Radha Jalan - Joint Secretary
Hirak Shah – Treasurer
Neena Mohanka – Member at Large
Kumkum Dilwali - Member at Large

A brief about each of the candidates:

Anupam Wali is a Ph.D. in biochemistry and has spent many years in the field of recombinant DNA and genetic engineering. He has been active in the Indian American community, most recently as the Vice President of IAFPE. He has been the President of the India Association of Greater Boston, Secretary of the Kashmiri Overseas Association, a member of the  Billerica Partners for Education and on the Board of Vision Aid.

Sonali Lappin is the Director of Communications and Constituent Services for State Senator Barry Finegold (Andover, Tewksbury, Dracut, Lawrence), served as an Aide to Governor Deval L. Patrick, and is currently serving as the Fellowship Program Coordinator for the IAFPE.

Hirak Shah has been admitted to the Bar in Massachusetts and also has a background in Finance and Business. He is currently the Deputy Legislative Director and Deputy Legal Counsel of the Office of Minority Leader State Senator Bruce E. Tarr, was the Director of Legislation and Legal Counsel in the Office of State Senator Susan C. Fargo and an Attorney for the Debt Exchange.

Dr. Sapna Aggarwal is a board certified internist. Her clinical interests include women's health, preventive medicine. She has served most recently as the Treasurer of IAFPE, is the chair of the IMANE membership committee, is on the executive committee of United India Association of New England, and served as a co-moderator for Mega Health Expo in 2013 and as co-chair for UIANE/IMANE Health and Wellness Fair in 2012.

Neena Mohanka has a background in IT and manufacturing. She is a Shrewsbury Town Meeting member and Shrewsbury Cultural Council member. Within the Indian American community she is a member of the Executive Committee of the India Society of Worcester and an Executive Member of the Rajasthani Association of North America. She also serves as a Hindi teacher in the ISW cultural school.
