Looking for a fine dining experience in the privacy of your home?  Now Chefstro founded by Rohan Pradhan and Dipish Rai, currently students at Harvard Business School are promising you just that. He then worked for McKinsey and Blackstone’s Private Equity team.  Dipish grew up in New Delhi, India and completed his undergraduate studies at Indian Institute of Technology. Prior to this entrepreneurial endeavor, he worked in private equity (Providence Equity Partners) and management consulting (Booz & Company).

How did you get the name Chefstro?

The name Chefstro is a combination of Chef and Maestro. The name is our tribute to the amazing culinary artists who we work with and admire.

Share with us twitter style what is Chefstro?

Chefstro makes it easy to host fine-dining experiences in the comfort of your own home.

How did this concept develop? Is there a personal experience or story to share.

Chefstro started as part of a first year course at Harvard Business School called FIELD (Field Immersion Experiences for Leadership Development), where it was ranked in the top 10 ventures out of 150 competing businesses by a panel of VCs, Entrepreneurs and HBS Professors. Our inspiration came from classmates who love to host friends at home for dinner but are strapped for time and lack the necessary cooking skills.

How does it work?

Basically the process is very simple. The customer browses through our menu options and pick the one he/she likes the most. Then Chefstro matches the customer with the best chef to execute that particular menu. Chefstro uniqueness here is that the customer doesn't have to undergo the back and forth with the Chef to decide the menu. Only after customer is paired up with a chef does the customer need to pay. On the day of the event, our Chef shops for the ingredients from Whole Foods, come an hour or so early to the customers home to do necessary prep work and then cook / serve dinner. After dinner, the Chef cleans up the kitchen and leaves it in the same condition he found it in.

Give us a sample menu that your chefs offer? Can clients offer suggestions to the preset menu?

One of our favorites is L'Exotique. It starts off with a sweet corn bisque and lobster salad garni, followed by an herb-roasted chicken breast and eggplant caponata with roasted onions, broccoli rabe, and basil oil. A dessert of macerated peaches and a vanilla bean mascarpone tart

Our chefs can modify just about any of our menus to accommodate special diets, preferences, and food allergies.

What has been the response as of now?

Our customers have given us rave reviews so far, and we already have 150+ top chefs in the pipeline. The chefs who have made it through our rigorous vetting process are excited about our platform, and they can't wait to share the Chefstro experience with customers in the Boston area.

Can you tell us as who should choose Chefstro for their dining experience?

We aim to make it easy to gather friends and family around a restaurant-quality meal. We think young professionals and busy parents will be especially attracted to our service, but Chefstro can work for anyone who enjoys fine food and social gatherings.

How do you reach out to your clients? Finally what is the best way to for our readers to contact you?

Testimonials:

“This was the first time we’ve had the luxury of having a private chef cooking in our home, and it was an incredible experience. Our guests gobbled up the smoked salmon crostini, heirloom tomato mozzarella bruschetta, tuna tartare with artichoke, harissa spice beef satay, and roasted beet with cambazola cheese and prosciutto. Everything was delicious and our guests raved about the food. We will definitely use Chefstro again!”

- Lisa Plimpton

"What a treat to have someone prepare a wonderful meal in the comfort of your own home... and not cleaning up! The whole event, from the not caring about the time, because, hey, I don't have to pull anything out of the oven, and being able to sit and chat and eat delicious food was quite an experience. Also, having such a personable chef like Michelle was super comfortable and a lot of fun. We learned so much from her as she cooked - it was fascinating!"
