Vanita Shastri Receives 'Executive Director Of The Year' Award

Vanita Shastri, Executive Director of TiE-Boston, was awarded the "Executive Director of the Year" award by TiE-Global during the organization's annual leadership meeting on May 16. The award recognizes executive directors who show the most initiative and who exemplify what it means to be a leader within TiE's organization. TiE-Boston's executive director, Vanita has been the Executive Director of TiE-Boston since 2008. In 2009, she co-edited abooke titled "Social Responsibility and Environmental Sustainability in Business,"  which documents the global social entrepreneurial work undertaken by TiE-Boston charter members.

Over the past five years, she has been instrumental in developing, implementing and promoting a number of new initiatives including TiE Young Entrepreneur (TyE), TiE CXO, TiE Angels and TiE Challenge Accelerator.

The Executive Director Awards are held every year to recognize the contributions of the Executive Directors who show the most initiative and who exemplify what it means to be a leader within TiE’s organization. TiE Executive Directors (EDs) organize events, initiate programs, and are the link between TiE members and TiE’s global network. TiE CEO, P.K. Agarwal, praised the awards as a chance to “honor those who are truly the backbone of TiE.”

TiE was founded in 1992 in Silicon Valley and, over time, has grown to become the world’s largest not-for-profit organization promoting entrepreneurship. Currently, TiE has 60 chapters in 17 countries with over 11,000 members. TiE’s mission is to foster entrepreneurship globally through mentoring, networking, educating, and funding. Dedicated to the virtuous cycle of wealth creation and giving back to the community, TiE’s focus is on generating and nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs.
